What kind of support does this service offer?

This service supports women affected by family violence in the family law courts.

This includes women who have experienced family violence and other family members who may be impacted by family violence (for example, grandparents).

Our FASS Social Support Worker can support you to:

  • plan for your safety
  • talk to the Family Courts about your safety at court
  • get information and support during your family law case
  • speak with services, like police
  • connect with other services you need.

They can also connect you with the FASS Legal Service, which can assist you with:

 

Where are these services available?

There is one FASS Social Support Worker based at the Sydney Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. To access this service, you can visit our office or book an appointment over the phone.

Who can access these services?

This service supports women affected by family violence in the family law courts.

This includes women who have experienced family violence and other family members who may be impacted by family violence (for example, grandparents).

Trans women, sistergirls and non-binary people are all eligible for this service.

You can access these services even if you are already receiving assistance from a lawyer or if you are self-representing.

The Family Advocacy and Support Service in New South Wales is funded by the Australian Government.
